Yeah a little extra noise. AT least that is my expierance, but I could be totally wrong with what looseness is

I say the TCI if the Yank is not an option. I have a Vig 3600 and I am not happy with the effeciency of this converter.

What exactly does efficiency affect? Top speed?

How much HP is being lost. If there is 100hp going into the verter then there is 90hp coming out if it's 90% efficient. More efficient converters have higher mph.

and can we assume an inefficient converter is causing heat. Since the power LOST has to be converted to something right? more heat = bad for trans.

i suck as physics but it makes sense.

You could also consider a Midwest, custom made for your Stall and STR needs for about $450.

Very interesting concept on this efficiency stuff.

So what does the vig put out about? 95%, Yanks are around 97%? Stock converter???

This thread is becoming very interesting!

Stock = 94%
Most Vigs = 92-95%
Most Yanks = 95-97%

Yes, less efficiency means more heat generated. More efficiency means higher trap speeds (all else, such as stall speed, being equal.)

Efficiency is rated when locked up or unlocked? or what?

Why do you say this? Looking at your mods and your times (N/A), I think that the converter is working good! I have a TCI, and I am very unhappy with it - I only gained 3 tenths with it (12.46 to 12.13)! I'm thinking of switching to a Vig!

I realize that you can't afford the Yank right now but why not wait till you can? Do it right the first time so down the road you arn't mad at yourself for not getting what you really wanted. I got a Yank SS3800 that combined with the 3.70 gear and slicks took a full second off my times with the stock converter and 2.73 gear.

lol, I am starting to lean toward paying the extra money for the SS3800 now, especially with my 2.73 gearing.

AMEN!! And then if you are like me, you end up getting what you wanted in the first place and wasting the money you spent on the one you didn't really want

You would think I would learn - even my wife says get the good one, but what do I do - try to save a dollar and end up spending even more in the long run!
