Default Stock Tranny Cooler

Hey guys I called my local garage and set up a date to have my verter put in, he said that the 4l60e already has a stock tranny cooler. Is this correct? Sry if this sounds like a newbie? Also how is the stock one ranked vs. my B&M super cooler.
Thanks for the info guys.

All auto cars have a trans cooler built into the radiator. I mounted my B&M 24K supercooler in front of the condenser. Works much better.

Yes, an aftermarket cooler will work well with the stock one. The lines should route so the fluid passes through the stock cooler first, THEN to the B&M cooler. The stock cooler only works so well as it's in the radiator, wich is generally in the 200 degree range with a stock thermostat. The B&M cooler will offer further cooling as it's cooled at ambient air temperature.

Going the other way would pretty much negate any additional cooling by the B&M unit. The stock cooler really isn't enough for performance use, especially with an aftermarket converter. I NEVER see my trans temps go over 200 degrees anymore, even when idling in the staging lanes for 10-20 minutes and making a full 1/4 mile pass in the summer heat. Before I'd seen my temps go to 230 just idling in the lanes on a hot day! Average while driving I'm down to around 180, even with my Yank 3600.

yes! radiator (what GM calls a trans cooler)
AND a separate trans cooler
youre not a retard!
although, maybe a newbie =)

but sadly,
the mech at your local garage sounds like a retard newbie
whats up with that?
the aftermarket trans cooler is a must-have!
