Default 8" 9" 10" converter size, what's the difference?

I'm trying to figure out what is the best converter for my set-up. It's going in a th400 built for 1200rwhp and my engine is lsx 402 with an f2 @ 26psi making approximatly 1200hp. The vig 4000 I have in there is eating way too much power and flashing way too high(6300) making 800rwhp. I need a tighter converter and obviously something made for a lot of power. I thought I knew what I was looking for but then I started reading about the different size converters and I just don't know what the purpose is. I couldn't find it searching so I figured I would just ask. Anyone know what size I need?

Call Neal Chance, they should ask you your exact combo and will build it for your exact setup. Those converters WILL hold that power, and they also come with a 1 year if you can break it they will fix it warrantee.

You need a Power adder designed converter in 10" but an 11"" might be in order with all engine and car data added in.

Well, you guys covered both companies I'm looking at and also ultimate is in the mix. I loved my ss4000 in my old set-up with the 4l60e so that's the main reason I would like to try a yank. The Neal Chance I've been hereing is the best but not really a great option for me because of the price. The ultimate is what my speed shop recommended but is still expensive and I havn't heard much about them. Dave, if you think you can get it done for a fair price, I'm interested to see what you think I should get. I don't need much off the line because the boost hits very fast with this f2 so I'm wanting something as tight as possible to make it fun on the street as well as get me some good 1/4 times. I'll pm you with all the info and if you can give me a recommendation and a price, that would be great.

I still would like to know the difference or purpose of going with one size, say 10" over an 8" or vise versa?

Here is another number for you - 258MM. That is what I like to use in setups like yours. A 258MM is 10.25" BTW. It will give you the launch RPM you need and be very efficient on the top end.

Be happy to give you some ideas, give me a call on Monday.
