Default Top speed in an A4 car.

I've read many of the posts on here regarding this topic but keep coming up with tuning info or gear selection info in relation to top speed. All I want to know is what would an A4 ls1 car with 323s run on the top end? I'm never going to do it but would like to know.

Stock it's governed at 162 mph
Theoretically, if with stock gearing (3.23) and a 6200 shift point, if you ran to the top of 4th (overdrive) you could hit 200mph. Factor in aerodynamics and power, etc.. you would never hit that at near stock power levels.

You can hit 145 at the top of 3rd, but I wouldn't know

Here's your math, figure it out.

Not sure if you are referring to 1/4 mile or roll racing but here are a couple 1/4 mile racers with FLT 4l60E transmissions. Links to the threads below. Vince

Wow interesting. I actually meant just overall top speed before speed limiter kicks in or car runs out of steam. Will stock ls1 cars hit their speed limiter if equipped with the stock 4l60e and 323s out back?

I cant say this with certainty since i have never driven a stock LSX car fast enough to find out lol but i would say since the limiter is there yes otherwise GM would not have needed to put it there.

Hmm, I wonder how fast a 2.73 car will run with no governor. I've taken it up to 130 in third and it was straight chillin', not even close to redline.

Here's a google doc calculator for you to play with.

The only things that should be changed are the things in yellow. Though It's currently set up for my A4 with 3.23 gears.

Well a corvette (C5) with A4 will top out around 170 in overdive with a 3.15 gear and 26.7" tire diameter. The vette runs out of steam.

In the right configuration, you might get up to around 215 - 225 mph, but you'll need a lot more power than the stock motor can provide.

if you put in a stall, it'll be a bit lower, but if you could hit 6000rpm with your 3.23 rear you should be going about 203mph (without any slippage).
