Default Trans question

OK, yesterday morning I was at the track.
For reference, I have a Vig3200 converter, a TransGo shift kit, and a B&M 19,000 GVW Trans Cooler.
On my last run, I was in 2nd for my burnout (like usual) but unbeknownst to me, my tires never spun.
So, I make the run, and it never shifts into 3rd, just bounces off the rev limiter in 2nd.
For fear of leaving my trans at the starting line, I quit racing for the day.
Weird thing is, on the way home, the trans is fine, shifts into and out of all gears normally.
Is there a difference with shifting under normal acceleration versus shifting at WOT?
And furthermore, do I call this situation a fluke and assume my trans is OK?
Thanks alot for any answers!

Did you happen to ATAP your temps after the problem occurred. I know you have a cooler, but it might be as effective as hoped for or it might be obstructed .

I've seen others who have a fluke issue and let the car cool down, restart it and it drives fine. Any WOT shift issues on the street since then?

Haven't been able to test it at WOT all the way to 3rd gear yet... bald Nittos... car likes to do 360s on teh 1-2 shift, lol.
But as far as normal driving, it's been fine.
I'm thinking if there was a real problem it wouldn't shift into 3rd at all... am I right?
It was only about 40 degrees Sunday at the track, and I was allowing ample time for cooling, so I don't think the trans would've been too hot... unless of course there's a problem with the trans cooler like you mentioned.

My car did the same thing one day at the track this summer. Only time it's ever done it, and never showed any sign of this problem again. I think the trans goes into some kind of safety mode or something and just only uses 2nd for foreward gear.

Well, at this point I'm thinking that it was just a fluke problem, because it has been completely fine ever since... even was fine on the dyno today.
