Default trans. fuild change ? on TC fuild

I would like to get as much fuild out as possible.

if I leave the drain plug out on my deep TCI pan over night will the torque converter fuild drain out?

it's been about an hour since drain plug removal and it is still dripping.

Thanks

Nope....think of it as a tire off the rim standing up with water in it. The donut like shape of the verter will still retain most of the fluid even if you hold it upside down.

however, the transmission passages will leak down over time and let a significant amount of fluid out overnight.

it's been a few more hours since last post an it is still dripping, will all the TC fuild drain out if I leave it dripping for a few days?

so far I've estimated 8 quarts drained. please consider 2 trans. coolers (20K + 24K) and a external filter.

Thanks

No. The shaft that supplies fluid to the converter is in the middle. Any fluid below the middle of the converter has no way out. Even when removed, they are like oil filters, no matter how many times you turn them over it seems like there's always fluid inside.

that thing will drip fluid for 20 yrs. your never going to get even close to getting all of it out by letting it sit. i would say with letting it sit for several hrs would probably be good enough for a simple fluid change
