Default torque converter doesnt fit t400 to lq4?

I mated up my tranny to the block today, tranny fit fine but the torque converter doesnt fit flush with the flex plate maybe 5/16 off. Do i need to buy a new stall or can you use washers.

motor is a 03 2500hd

tranny is out off a old school 350. thanks for the help

you should have a no more than a 3/8 gap and no less than 1/8 between tranny and flexplate with the converter seated. Mine was 5/16 and I just pulled it forward and bolted it up. runs like a champ.

Wow!
5/16" is OK?

And that's what the Rossler site says?

Dude,
I hope you don't have 5/16" gap and slid it into place and running it. Borrowed time...

you have to determine which flywheel you have, flat or curved-if it is flat, it needs a .400 spacer bet the crank and flywheel-if it is the curved flywheel, i believe you need the spacer designed to go bet. the flywheel and converter, if the converter is a stock style one for a 350/400-the converter snout has to reg. into the crank somehow
