Default Th400 vs A4 with 500 + HP

I dont have LS1 but I would love your guys feed back on what you think would be a better all around set up for my 1969 Camaro. First off I am running a 408 stroker small block that puts out approx 530 hp. The vehicle weight is about 3400lbs. I have 2 trannys to choose from... 1) TPI performace 700r4 2) TH400.

I would like this car to be able to drive anywhere and will do some highway cruising to shows and cruise nights. Plus the car will be race at least once per month and driven hard on the streets. Do you think the 700r4 will live long behind this 408??? Or should I just go with the TH400 and forget about it and sell the 700r4. If I went with the TH400 I plan to use 3.42's so that it will cruise decent on the highway. If I use the 700r4 I will go with 3.90's because of the overdrive. The car will wear Nitto DR's on the street and ET streets at the track. Any and all opinions all welcome!

I fried two "built" 700R4's with my 500hp 383. Overdrive is nice but they didn't even last a couple hundred miles. Unless your willing to put $2500-$4000 in just the 700R4 tranny, I would definately go TH400. I would rather have no overdrive and a tranny that is going to last and get me where I need to go.

I was thinking that as well.....what do you guys think of Bowtie Overdrives?? He said he his stage 3 unit at $1400 bucks would take the abuse but....I dont want to drop a bunch of cash and always be pullin the sucker out! Her also said his 2004r would be a nice set up as well.
