Default PT4400 on a bolt on car?

i have been looking around for someone to trade trannies with as I live at the drag strip. I have two possibilities right now.

a tranny with some miles (60k ish) and a vig ~3600 stall
cost out of pocket probably wouldn't be much, if anything

a fairly new tranny with a very new yank PT4400
cost out of pocket: about $500

The yank 4400 will be great in the future...but i dont know how it will be now. LT's will be on very soon and H/C are probably about 6 months out.

I also drive my car a lot...like 2k miles a month. Is this something I could live with? or am I better off with something more reasonable?

I daily drove my Z with a PT 4400 for years. Hard core, but liveable. I kicked some *** with it, then drove it to client meetings.

Personally, I think I would love to have a PT 4400 and its a possibility for me in the future. It sounds like you plan on doing some work besides bolt ons, so this converter will be very effective. Go with it man, you want regret it and it will be badass.
Good Luck

my car is currently stock internal with a PT4400 converter and i have also had a vig3600 as well, you will want the 4400. i am so use to loose converters right now driving around doesnt bother me any, I want it to perform well at the track. I have been able to pull a 1.50 60' with it in my car. You will like it once you get use to it and it will go much better for your future combo than the 3600.

Put the 4400 in now. Several bolt-on mid 11 cars run it.

I was in the same boat as you were so i decided just to buy one conv. instead of losing my *** selling three different ones till i got the PT 4400...I drove it about 8k miles with 100% stock everything else manifolds cats etc and it was fine. Now i did a H/C swap and guess what.....I'm glad i already had that conv in there. It kicks ***..

Its a great verter to grow into... You wont regret it..
