so my trans has been slowly dying. i know i need a new one im on a budget. so i dont wanna spend alot. iv been looking into a used trans hopping like everyone else i can find a built 4l60e at a good deal. no such luck yet. iv heard alot of people talk about 4l80e but i dont know much about them. i dont have alot of mods as of right now and i know a stock 60e would work just fine for now. can anyone please help me out and let me know what i should do.

should i have my rebuilt
find a good used 4l60e untill i can save up for a built one
do a 4l80e swap

also any insight on what 4l60e i should get would help i see they are in lt1's and ls1 both but cant tell them apart. please help me also keep in mind most of the new built trans i cant afford right now i dont wanna spend $1500 right now i just cant do it my budget is about $500 maybe i can save upto $800 for now i really would like to get this done as cheap as i can.

 

for that price you could get a rebuilt one locally or get yours rebuilt.best bet would be to get a used one if possible a rebuilt one then just save up for a built one if you go that direction.
