stall question

If I were to get a 4000rpm stall does that mean I'll always have to takeoff @ 4000 rpms? How does that work?

Nope, you'll just have to give it a lil more "gas" than a stock stall.

what's a little more gas in rpms? enough to chirp the tires?

No just a little more gas..
If you get a quality stall your around town drivability will be almost unaffected. My 3500 stall vig is tighter than my old 2800 midwest stall.

not that much more.. i have a 4000 with 273's for now.. takes me about 2000-2300 to get moving up to speed with traffic... could be less but it would just crawl...

Its not as much the gears that will determine the stall, its more of the camshafts powerband. People run as big as 4000 with 273's which will feel very loose compared to a 4k with 373s. bigger gears will make it feel more tight around town.

I run a 3600 with 273s but with a low str. Still pretty tight. I am also stock internals. I wouldnt go much bigger than 3600 on the stock cam but people on this forum have and gotten some pretty good quarter and 60' times.

You should review your goals, how often you drive the car, and how bad you want the light pedal acceleration to be. The bigger the stall, the worse the drivability will be.
