Default 4l60e delay shift into 3rd.

Well I've had this performabuilt tranny for 2 years, so i'm not bashing them at all, actually the tranny has recently been hitting the limiter on the 2-3 shift. It is a performabuilt level 2 so it has many good parts in it. I also had this issue on my stock tranny before it went out, question is what causes this 2-3 shift delay? Is it oil pressure? apply piston seal? when it does shift it doesn't slip, it will just hit the limiter and then finally shift.

well, the shift points have seemed to be dead on for the past year, so either the tranny is slipping, or the converter got real loose all of a sudden, I need to call vig, I have the 3600 stall and my last dyno the converter seemed to be 300 rpm looser. IDK, but i will figure it out.

yeah im not really sure about that, i bet if you called them and told them the symptoms they would know if it was a converter issue.

It could be many things even a sensor thats changed or a bad tune. Recently we had a customer call with a new trans and he was having issues hitting the rev limiter on the 2-3, We hooked up some leds to the shift solenoid wires and guess what yet again proved that just because the pcm is supposed to do something does not mean it is . He hooked them up and called me back and said " well the trans does indeed shift exactly when the pcm makes the command trouble is its not when its programed to " He could see that by the LEDs going off and on.(THERE IS NO SUBSTITUTE FOR A HARD WIRED TEST) Unfortunatley that does not solve his problem and hopefully he will figure it out. But I have said many times and seen it many times over the years. Just because you programed the MPH and RPM in for a certain shift does not mean the PCM will actually do it then. There are other variables involved. TPS, MAF, VSS and more that can take you on a chase. Thats why I always suggest the LED test because most of the time when its done it points back to the PCM.
I would say 99 percent of the time if the shift is solid but just not happeing when it should its PCM/SENSOR or Tuning related.

to set this up.

2 LEDs from radio shack 12 volt (not light bulbs)
2 lengths of wire in two colors about 12 foot each.
2 snap splicers.

wire the led neg side one to the lt green wire the other to the yellow wire with black stripe note which is which.
The other end goes to 12 volts in the car put the leds in a box or somewhere you can see them .

BOTH ON=1ST
LTG OFF-YBLK ON=2ND
BOTH OFF=3RD
LTG ON-YBLK OFF=4TH

You can also wire a third LED into the TAN WIRE w/ BLACK STRIPE and see when lockup is being enabled/ disabled.

When you see these LEDs going off and on you know for sure whats really being commanded not just guess by what should have happened.

Yeah i think its in the tranny, my first tranny did this and after the rebuilt it was fixed, during rebuilt all electrical is replaced, and everything is cleaned of course, so maybe its a solenoid or stiky valve, or valvebody issue, or check ball? Im going through my tranny soon so if i see anything i will note what it was and if its fixed i will list all parts i replaced
