HELP! Bad 4L60E problem
Today I took the car out for more testing. When I pulled back into the driveway everything was “normal” with the car with the exception of the whining. I put the car in neutral and sat for a few minutes. I put the gear selector in reverse and the engine loaded down and cutoff. I restarted it and put in the drive and it did the same thing. Again I restarted car and let it idle put it back in drive and reverse and all seemed OK.
I took the car for a short test drive and the trans fluid temp was rising quickly.
It also took a lot more gas to get the car to move than usual and it took the TC a while to lockup once all the conditions were metWhen I put the car in drive there is positive gear engagement but it takes about 1600rpm to get the car to move.
Reverse also has positive gear engagement and the car moves with just the idle rpm.
I am thinking the torque converter has gone bad and maybe more problems.
What do you all think?
Any trouble shooting tips?
Thanks
John
