Default Need Trans Swap Info Quick Please

Anything inparticular with an LS1 to look out for when swappign out tranmissions? I heard of convertors needing to be "locked" or double clicked or something?
1)d/c both lines, and plugs etc.
2)drain pan, lucky got a plug!
3)remove bell bolts
4)remove driveshaft
5)remove crossmember
6)drop trans on chest, scream for help and slide out under car

What am I missing?
Charlie.

make sure nothing else is in the way. I know my TA you have to take out headers as well to get the transmission out. And YES make sure you hear the clicks on the converter.

yes, the clicks are audible. it's the converter connecting to the input shaft, make sure it clicks. You make have to sping the converter a little. The only visual way to tell is that the converter will sit closer to the transmission when its clicked.

Just make sure the converter is all the way in on the pump or the pump will be damaged. I just turned it a few times while pushing it on the shaft.

So it is sounds pretty idiot proof. I am thinking of helping my buddy replace his trans in the driveway, he has a cmotorsport stage2, and i can have his. Either use his since mine is no longer an A4, but now an A4 -2 (damn 3-4 are gone). Or use his as a rebuild core, and get the Level 10 kit, or similar. But need to start the swap tonight first. BTW, mine is 2000Z and his a 2002 SS, his trans is the same as mine or a little better?

Both transmissions are identical. His will have the updated valve body in it that came out in 2001. There is just one small change in the valve body to correct occational P1870 codes. They are interchangable.

Use new converter bolts if possible, and use Loctite Blue on them. Also, you'll need to pop out the 2 clips on the lines to remove the cooler lines. Put the clips back in the trans while it's out, or they're a bitch. The lines just snap back in later. Use steel wool or scotchbrite to clean the rust off the driveshaft yoke while it's out. That will extend the life of the rear seal.

It's pretty straightforward though, you can always ask questions here if you get stuck
