Interested in swapping from M6 to TH400 mvb also, my question is--does any of this info apply to the RMVB's that TCI offers which claim to still have engine braking in all gears??? Because if I go through with it this is going to be in my daily driver...

with just a RMVB it still would have engine breaking, you loose engine breaking when you go to a trans brake. With a brake, you loose a band that would slow down the drum giving you the engine breaking.

I have a question

Say I am in traffic, it slows to the point where I need to grab 1st, or even 2nd for that matter, do I have to stop everyone behind me so I can stop and downshift?

Also, one of the sponsors in this thread said it was ok to downshift in any gear as long as you were applying the throttle, the rossler site says to NEVER downshift the trans.

This **** confuses me. And I have a rmvb th400 with a brake coming any day

OH ok I thought the no engine braking applied to rmvb's in general. Cause I probably won't have a t brake any time soon. Good to know! Thanks

I keep mine in 3rd until traffic totally stops, then you can go back to 1st & start the process over when you accelerate. My converter is kinda tight when not under boost, so it does ok going slow in 3rd gear. The more you drive at slow speeds in 3rd the more heat it will build, thats better than rolling a sprag though, IMO. I would listen to Rossler, I have never heard of you being able to down shift a trans brake th400 while rolling. Remember the only gear its OK to let off the gas is in 3rd gear as well.

Now with a glide I have been told you can do whatever you want because they are spragless.

You have a Trans Brake valve body?

Wow,
Lots of misinformation in this one. Some of it from supposed experts.

It's not just trans brake valve bodies, my th400 has a RMVB and NO transbrake, and has NO engine breaking. However some manual valve bodies can be offered with engine breaking. I personally hate the engine break feature. I like driving a trans without it much better.
