I love mine. I had another "built" trans before this one that went to a very early grave.

Mitch & Chuck at FLP took great care of me and put together a trans that is worlds beyond what I had before.

I will return to FLP for all my trans needs in the future.

My brother runs a FLP level 4 in his 11.0 sec LT1 car with a vig 3,600 conv. He went thru several "built" transmissions before buying the FLP. He's been running it for almost two years now without a single problem. If my car was and A4 and I needed a trans, that is the one I'd buy.

I had one of the first FLP level IV"s and it worked great.

When it freshened for resale (was not slipping) the internals looked great.

Not all 4L60E rebuilds are created equal. I think that when you get a Level IV you get a lot of R&D backing it. Chuck knows how to make the 3/4 clutches live in them.

My car lived on slicks for two year and tranny never skipped a beat.

for me, this is the only 4L60E solution. After reading about some of the LS1Speed trannyies craping out, I haven't read about an FLP failure yet. This is the tranny I'm getting.

A guy over in the truck forum had one ... 11.92 in a 4x4 ext cab truck. He broke it with 8psi of boost on a 6.0 and a 100 shot I think. If I remember right, he had mad wheel hop and said it let loose once it stopped bouncing and the front tires hooked.

The 11.92 was on a 75 shoot BTW. He swears by them, that's what I plan on putting in my truck once the funds are available.

Sounds like this is the tranny I may go with, but I'm still looking for a few more opinions

I HIGHLY recommend the FLP level 4 transmission.

I work for a chevy dealership where Chuck (now with FLP) became so proficient at transmission work that he had customers driving in from out of state for advice and rebuilds. My FLP transmission shifts so smooth and pull so strong. It is incredible how good this rebuilt 4L60 has become .

The FLP level 4 is a great transmission and FLP has great customer service too .

One thing I really love about my FLP trans is how fast it shifts. The shifts are not neck-snapping hard (and they don't need to be), but they are perfectly firm and VERY quick. MUCH quicker than "other" built 4L60Es I've owned or been in. The FLP trans seems to just drop right into gear so fast that it makes me smile every time it shifts...

Some people get the idea that a shift needs to be hard enough to rattle your teeth after the upshift for it to be built right, but that's NOT necessarily the case. Want you want are the fastest shifts possibile that are also firm, and not necessarily just "the hardest shifts possibile". I've been in cars with built transmissions that shifted hard enough to crack the windshield, but took FOREVER to complete a gear change, and that's just not what you want....

Another happy FLP IV owner here. Trans held up extremely well. WOW, everyone is happy with this one product. I guess Chuck is the man....

Without a question I am going with this tranny. If by some freak chance it brakes I will later upgrade to the new level 5.

Thank you for all the replies fellas

I've done a ton of research, and when I get home next month I will decide between the FLP or Rossler. Probably FLP.

Some more updates, parts similar to the 4L65E, bigger, better, faster.

It consists of our Level 4 with the 4L65E upgrade (with FLP's very own sun shell... among other goodies) along with specific internal parts of the transmission that have been cryogenically treated.

How much of a warranty comes with these things?
Most likely the lvl5 tranny.

I'm assuming a lvl4 with the 5 pinion planetary is the same as a lvl5 from the above posts???

i broke 2 of them and chuck fixed them both, making them better each time. i think i was his first customer to push the 60 in a heavy truck with good traction. their warrenty is listed at 3 months and i broke the 2nd one at about 6months and he fixed it no charge.

i broke the first one because i hit a dip in the road shortly after a WOT launch and the entire truck came off the ground, all 4 wheels spining as it came down.

the 2nd one broke during a nice smooth launch but i am prety sure i was over 600rwhp launching a 5000+lb truck in 4wd with wide tires. i was running 9lb's of boost and a 100shot and was seeing 1.6x 60' times. i am not sure what broke but i do know chuck designed a new "thicker" part that he uses now.

i will be going back to chuck when i need my 4l80e built, their customer service is unbeatable.
