Default Help, 2-3 shift at WOT is sluggish, hit rev limiter once

99 TA with 70,000 miles, bought the car yesturday

The tranny shifted great on test drive, it shifted into 3rd great at WOT. I checked the tranny fluid and it was nice and red, it didn't smell burnt or toasty.

However, it seems to have a slight delay when shifting to 4th at wot when the tranny gets hot. One out of 7 or so WOT runs the car actually hit the REV LIMITER. It doesn't do it every time, i actually hit a big bump right when it was shifting.

Now I don't know if I need to lower the shift point, or add a tranny cooler, change fluid and hope it doesn't get worse, or start saving for a new tranny.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

when my 60e starts that **** i know it is time for a rebuild. i spray mine and it will shift fine no spray and then hit the limiter after i spray even if i have the window switch set 500 below the shift.

throw a fresh set of clutch's in and youre problem will be fixed.

the 4th gear delay is the 2nd gear band is prob wore .you could get a trans-go kit and shim the servo to take some slop out of it. but the 2-3 in all my case's has been worn out clutch packs.

Quick 346,
Do I need a FULL rebuild? Or should I just have it gone through, new clutches put in and cleaned out.

Would it cost less doing this now before it explodes?

Do I need to drop 1200 on a rebuild, or can I get away with just fixing what is wrong with it for less?
