Default Stall & Shift Kit

Im puttin a yank 3500 in my car, their website says no shift kits needed but will one really help me get more miles out of my tranny or will i be alright with just a tranny cooler. Also my tranny pressure is higher than stock from a dyno tune, already shifts hard.

Kinda depends on how you drive. If you are mainly street driving you should be fine with just the cooler, unless you beat the tar out of it! Even with the higher line pressure the shifts will seem softer, but that's normal.

I'd say a good trans-go shift kit with all other upgrades will make the tranny last, get the wider 2-4 band, as long as the drum is in good condition, get the borg warner sprag, sonnix super 2-4 servo. and a good 3-4 clutch pack, I have the z pake and its taken a good amount of punishment.

The trans cooler is a must, but I always like to think of a stall as better on the tranny anyway, Its usually half the weight as the stock stall and provides alot more cushion during shifts whitch saves hard parts in the tranny. The only downfall I've found with a stall is heat, but with the right coller this really isn't a problem.

My stock stall caused more damage( broken output shaft) vs my stall, whitch provides more cushined shifts, and it makes the tires spin less vs. the stock stall which costed me time.

Good luck and you will love that 3500!!
