Ive been under the impression that manually shifting was better for 2 reasons

1.) More clutches are applied for better holding power

2.) Line Pressure is higher when you are manually in gear.

Any tranny experts here know if these are correct?

Ive heard this from a few people that dont come on ls1 boards

No no no no....I'm sure we'll get more back up, but manually shifting the 4L60 or 700R4 will KILL IT AND FAST.

I installed the Transgo shift kit. It felt great and shifted hard but it didn't last long. I blew the band apply piston out the side of the case (ruining the core) on a 1-2 shift.

This only apply to older 700R4/4L60 cars from 82-93 f-bodies. In the 94 and up f-bodies ,everything is done by the computer. IMHO ,there is no need for a shift kits to go in a 4L60E car. With a hypertech or a predator programmer or ls1 edit, you make your shifts as firm and crisp as you want. But the choice is yours ,my man. As for adding a converter ,just add a tranny cooler and enjoy the car Just my $0.02
