Default Limp mode, ugh...

Well tonight the 4L60E took a dump.
It is very difficult to get it to go to second, I have to take it up to 5500 rpm for it to shift. And it won't shift to 3rd or 4th.
All my fluid levels are good and I even unhooked the battery for awhile to reset it and no luck.
It wouldn't be right to say it happened all of a sudden, it has had some shifting problems lately, such as unresponsiveness and being hesitant to shift.
But it was all ok up till a stop light and then it started acting this way.
I don't abuse the car so I am really clueless on this one.
Any ideas?

You may be right, I'm kind of considering it at this point, it's just so damn frustrating. But since it's this way I might as well just put it up till I do an LS swap.

6 speeds arent the best thing in the world. They may be fun but they arent super reliable. They have tons of clutch and hydraulic issues, and they break drivetrain parts like crazy once you start making any power (think LS1). They take more money to go fast at the track bc hardly anything stock can live behind them on a decent pass. However some may argue that they are funner to drive. Well, thats a matter of opinion. Let those 6 speed guys drive a 4000 stall for a while and Im sure they will agree its pretty fun too.

6 speed LS1
Stock=Low 13s
For mid 11s: clutch $750, rear end $2250, Driveshaft $300, medium cam, LTs, bolt ons, maybe a FAST intake $1100, Tires and rims $ 400 minimum

Ls1 auto
Stock=mid/high 13s
For mid 11s: Converter/cooler $850, medium cam, LTs, Tires and rims $400

If your having issues with late shifts and only two gears I would suspect that your actually making a 1-3 shift which is why its so late , More than likley you have a broken 2-4 band

I'm pretty sure it's second, I'm at 4500 rpm at 45 mph, my second tops at 60.

I know nothing about the internal workings of this transmission. Care to enlighten me?

Lisitin to him, and if she bites it just lay into the throttle and let the stall throw her off of you.
