I think that's too much converter for a primarily driven street car/ weekend warrior but to someone else it may be alright.

If I had to do my choice again I would go with a 4000 stall, but i like my verter it drives pretty stock till you get on it!

My PT4600 really isn't that much more loose as compared to my old 3600 2.0 I drove this converter in a car with 3.73's and it felt amazing. Really wasn't loose. It wasn't all that long ago when you were considered insane for even considering a 4000 stall.

Yeah, I'd bet that TCI-3800 converter is stalling higher than my TP-4200

I've had quite a few verters in my car.
TP4200 IMO was the BEST,it was loose but not too loose and it flashed right to 4200 an ran pretty consistant 1.50 60fts.I had a pretty mild S1/224 cammed setup that ran 11.30's@118 at 3450lbs with this verter.

I also had a VIG3600 and had exactly the same results?
Maybe lost 1/2 MPH max.

I then had a UT4600,IMO TOO LOOSE
Didnt make any difference over the TP4200?

Then I had a TP4400 again and it slipped on the dyno.
Bad clutch/Chudder problems...

I changed my setup S2X setup and went back to the VIG but in a 3800 #7 pump.Results were a 11.14 ET 1.46 60ft at 122.98 MPH at 3450lbs.

I'm really thinking about JoSeYs results on the dyno and it looks like I'm gonna up the VIG to a 4000 but add a multi disc to it.

This should net me 10's (I hope) at better than 123?I'll test the new setup with the single disc in about 4 weeks and then add the multi to the mix,I'll report back my results.

Personally I'd go with any reputable verter company,There all a tenth apart.
JMHO....

I've had a few combos as well. Some of them...

Yank Stealth 2600/2.73 gears-REALLY tight. Like stock. Small performance gain...not worth the effort. 1.8 second 60 fts.

Yank SY3500/3.73 gears-Somewhat loose when you're used to stock but nice to drive. Very nice performance gain for Drag Radials. Soft hitting compared to other 3500 converters which is a good thing in traction limited applications. Low 1.7 60 fts and great from a roll. Got a good hooking track and running drag radials? You should probably consider a converter with a higher STR. Got ET Streets or slicks? You should absolutely get a converter with a higher STR.

Yank PT4600/3.90 gears-Pretty dang loose despite the 3.90 gears and ~3350 lb raceweight. It was ok for a weekend warrior but not nice for a daily driver. AWESOME performance gain both at the strip and from a roll! Mid 1.4 second 60 fts and unrivaled from a roll performance. I don't recommend PT converters for truly daily driven cars.

TCI SSF3500/3.23 gears-VERY nice to drive. A little tighter than the SY3500/3.73 combo. The TCI SSF line offers the best bang for the buck on the market. 1.61 60 fts.

Yank SS4000/3.23 gears-My favorite combo for a street driven car to date. 60 fts (1.55 but remember, we're talking about a 3525 lb car with 3.23 gears) not that far off of a TP4400 with drivability that's not that far off from the TCI SSF3500. The perfect balance of max performance and daily driven streetability (PCM converter lockup and shift point changes recommended.)

I'd love to try one of those new Yank SS lines.
Steven got great results so IMO it looks like a great street/strip performer.

John u cant argue with dyno results
Jason only lost 3 RW locking up this multi disc VIG,MTI is your shop so u know they are telling the truth. But I do agree with your point,The TP is a KICKASS verter and you pioneered it with your car.I'd love to see u run a VIG4000 in a multi disc back to back just to see if its as good.

The point is the dyno isnt lying Wilwaxu.
IF MTI tested it u can rest assured its truthful....

Maybe your alittle aprehensive to try a Multi-Disc Vig because it might 60ft/MPH better than your TP4400

I was just pointing out that all the big name verters are within a tenth of each other bro but your entitled to your opinion.

Who's doubting the dyno numbers?

Apprehensive? of what? Why change something that works? I don't have an unlimited budget to change my combo every month. I go with what has been proven to work.

On a budget the Vig isn't a bad choice, but if your looking for the all out best performance, Yank TP series has proven time and time again to be the better choice for track performance.

Not in my car bro,I dont take everyones word/results as gospel....
My car would only best a 1.49 with countless passes on the TP4400

It 60ft'd 1.44 to 1.46 with my VIG 3800?

But I did see a .05MPH better with the Yank. The only problem I had with my Yank was the clutch was not locking up (Glazed) but Mike has since fixed these problems.

By the way change is good,If we didnt change it would be a very boring world.
Sometimes with change comes better results but if your happy with what u have now,God Bless.Your car does run very well so I cant argue with your logic.

Good luck with your car,Who H/C setup u going with now?
AS,TEA,GTP?
