Question about Midwest converters
Anyone else run a Midwest converter? I think I may be having an efficiency issue. the car is an 02 Z28, cam only, built 4L60e, 3.42 gears and 274/40 R17 BFG drag radials. It turns 5600rpm through the traps at 116mph. I was thinking the rpm was a little high for 3.42 gears. On the Hp tuner scanner you can see it flash to approx 2600rpm and I am reading the trap rpm off the scanner as the tach in the dash is inaccurate of course. What do you think? I was thinking a yank ss3600 may be in the near future.
It feels strong and its consistent. I am debating on a gear change to either 3.73's or 4.10's. the motor makes good power up high. I changed the shift points from 6000 to 6500 and picked up an honest 2.5 tenths with no other changes. I have a friends car that runs very similar et and mph with same gearing that traps around 5400 rpm. He runs a Yank.
