I have a built 4l60e that I took off my LS1 and installed on my LS2. It worked perfectly on the LS1, but on my new motor it is leaking like crazy from the passenger side, near the trans cooler line connectors. I removed the connectors and saw that the O-rings had been split, so I replaced them, put teflon tape on the connectors and reinstalled them, but it is still leaking.

Any ideas on what is causing this leak?

Beware the teflon tape I have seen the case crack at the threads from using it if too much is used. You need to clean up the area and let dry then start car and use a light and watch and see exactly where the fluild is coming from over there.

 

Should I take the teflon tape off and just use a liquid thread sealant?

 

well if its in there now and didnt crack the case I would leave it there. For now I would clean and verify the exact location of the leak.

 

The retainer clip on the connector fell out. I got a new one at a local auto parts store, and all is well. I'm glad it was a simple fix.
