Default Another P1870 Fix Question

Ok so I know there are countless threads on this but the difference is, I plan to follow up my thread with a full resolution and not just abandon it like all the others. I'm looking for anyone who has had the P1870 code and fixed it by replacing the TCC Solenoid with a new one, used a TransGo shift kit to fix it, or used the larger stiffer spring in the original solenoid to fix the issue. First off I'm looking at this part as a replacement:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/AUTOM...Q5fAccessories

Is this the correct part. I'm very mechanically inclined and learning more about it but have never worked on an auto. I know it is not to hard to access the piece and replace it. Can someone verify that this is the correct part to "Replace the TCC Solenoid" with?

Thanks in advance...

P.S. Looking forward to hearing from Performabuilt since his PM box was full and I would not have made this thread if it wasn't.

EDIT: I also know what the code means and the reasons it is thrown and what the side effects of it are. I'm looking for repair info specifically...

Also, I'm aware that converter damage is possible but the car has driven just fine for 2 years now with the code thrown and I want to take a shot at a repair of the issue rather than a replacement.

The transgo hd2 kit will take care of pwm and firm up shifts. Also comes with boost valve for around 100 bucks. get a new steel seperater plate. Easy fix if the tranny is in good shape.

Ok cool good to know. HAS ANYONE USED THE SPRING METHOD? I would just hate to spend the cash on a $100-$200 part if the problem was actually the TCC truly slipping and not just some other component. So if I can just buy a spring to get the same verdict that would be nice. I'm not looking to really add performance to the car.

You can use the inside pump slide spring, if you have one. 99% of the time the code sets due to converter slip speed exceeds the maximum allowed. But as stated above, if you have drove it for awhile the converter is possibly damaged.

1870 could be a # of things 1 torque converter 2 tcc solenoid 3 tcc regulator valve 4 afl (actuator feed limit valve) IMO is the most common valve to wear 5 stator support bushings If you want to repair yourself fix valves in v/b & l/u solenoid if that fixes it great if not time to pull trans.
