Default TH350 Back to 4L60E

I am new to the forum and LS engine word, so i expect to be in the forums quite a bit. I bought an '86 C-10 that has an LS1/TH350 installed and I want to go back to a 4L60E setup. This will mostly be a cruising vehicle and I am more concerned with MPG. What would I need to do to make the conversion? Thanks in advance for any help you offer.

Your probably better of using a 700r4 instead of a 4l60-e it would be cheaper to do the swap.with a 60-e you need a computer & harness w/a 700 you just need a cable and vacum switch to control lock up both are the basicily the same except one needs computer one does not.

This is probably a stupid question, but does the Transmission plug into the engine ECU? Or is it a separate computer? I am not appose to using a 700R4. Do you have any idea of what if any the difference in MPG would be? Thanks

MPG will be the same. The truck is an 86 which would have come with a 700. Check under the truck & see if the plug is still there for lock up it might be hooked to the 350 if it is a lock up unit,if so you would not need a vacum switch since the computer controls lock up but since the truck is an 86 you would have to buy a computer to use a 4l60-e.There are no stupid questions.

Sorry, I should have included a bit more background on the truck. The Motor and trans are out of the truck, actually the truck in stripped to the frame and bare cab. The engine is a 2000 LS1, built by Schwanke. It came with a TH350. I have the complete engine harness and ECU. I included a few pictures, I'm not sure if this changes anything. Thanks a lot for the help.

Thanks a ton, I'll try to be more informative in the future when it comes to asking questions. Thanks again for everything. Would it be a plug-n-play kind of thing? I have a limited amount of experience with these engines, and I'm a body man by trade. Do you have any suggestions on where to get a built 4L60E? Thanks again.

FLT makes them, performabuilt, and plenty of other sponsors on here build them. Redneck racing is a good spot too they have a ebay store, good luck. You might get lucky in teh classifieds and fine one

I have a 4l60E trans harness that would only need to be pinned into your existing harness. Give me a call if you are interested. $89.99
