Default doing your own tranny work

who got into it much? i had a junk tranny aroud the shop from a 2000 ls1 based truck...tore it down and the rear planataries(spelling) are torn up and...i did this one practice before i took apart my built tranny that i broke 2 months ago...its a lt1 style 60e, i was hoping it wasnt bad but got it all apart and it broke the output shaft in the middle of the planataries, took them out big time...bands and clutches look great, im debating weather i should stick it back together myself or not, id love to try it...any help books reccomended?

i know i need those rear planets, the output from the ls1 looks like it will work, ill get some pics of the damage tomaro, ill be contacting performabuilt about putting it back together and getting parts. Hope yall guys chime in.
