Default 2nd gears shifts sluggish

First off a little background on my app. its a Stock 98 blazer with a 2000 5.3l engine with a mild street tune,CAI and exhaust . The trans is from the v6 setup and has never slipped but has a delayed engagement on the 1-2 shift. Takes about 2 seconds to shift from 1st to 2nd.

It has done this with both the original v6 and with the 5.3.

What can cure this without rebuilding it? Maybe a shift kit or a billet 2nd servo?

Any advice would be appreciated

Also i have replaced the trans oil filter and has fresh fluid in it...and is full.
Does this simply sound like the band has slop in it from wearing out and is just taking longer to fill the 2nd servo to apply the band pin?

is it a slide shift/bump or just taking a little long from comand till shift. If its a slide/bump you might try a corvette servo since that model would not have one and or tighten the band clearance

I would definitely say its a slide shift. It feels plenty firm when it engages .

Speaking of the servo, is it really a big problem with using one of the Superior Fairbanks billet 2nd servo piston with a stock band? I've heard stories of the stocker breaking from added pressure?!?

Also the only way to tighten the band clearance would be to legnthen the pin correct?

I dont suggest using any billet servo with the stock band as yes they are knwn to break the tabs off.
And yes either that or use washers as a shim are two ways to do it depending on what you have available.

Ok, so say i use a washer , this will go in between the clip and the piston on the band side of the piston ,correct? Pretty much forcing the pin deeper ?
Im just trying to visualize the orientation.
