SS4000 users inside please.
I didn't. I said that if you were running an 8-9 second racecar then you should be shifting manually.
Are you running an 8-9 second car?
Slow down and read carefully...
"But yes, a 200R4 can be a major baddass setup for some all out trailor queen 8-9 second racing...but at that point you should be shifting manually, IMO."
I find it easier to get the shift points I want by shifting it manually once you get into 9 second land (things go by pretty quick.) Also, it's good for controlling the car when you get into trouble. Loose traction on the launch? Don't let out, short shift it instead. Same goes for getting the front end way up in the air in first gear. Letting out often results in a hard SLAM!!! to the ground which tends to destroy all kinds of stuff. A simple shift to 2nd gear will usually bring the front end back down nice and smooth.

Colonel: What are you revving the engine to when you launch at the track?
By the way, I found the STR on this converter on Yank's site. Thanks for telling me where I could find it. Its a 2.6 for anyone that wants to know.

I suggest you use the search feature and read up , pretty much all of these questions been asked already.
He is NOT suggesting you shift manually, only if you had 8 or 9 second trailer queen car.
The transmission combined with a shift kit will shift faster than manually shifting it anyway. There is no advantage to manually shifting anyway the 4160-E is electronically controlled.

Slow down and read up like Colonel said.
Direct quote from you..here's what you posted..
"Ive never owned an automatic sports car muchless an aftermarket converter"
Your questions are all over the place, that's why I suggested using the search cause you seem to be a newbie in the automatic transmission world.
peace.

Im not really new, but not a veteran here in the auto. section. However, I never see anyone talk or post about the 200-4R until recently. Thats why I ask all these questions because I dont know how much they relate to 4L60Es. I just want to get as much info as I can so I know what Im doing when I start putting it all together and know what to expect. Theres just so much to know out there and Im just trying to take it one step at a time. I never thought that I would get this far and the closer and closer that I get, the more anxious/impatient I get. You have no idea how long Ive been wanting to convert! I hardly drive the car much anymore just because I hate to drive stick...the car will definately be used more when I get that auto in. One thing thats going to be such an experience is when I take it to the track. I just hope that all this money Im dumping into the car is really going to be worth it and show at the track. But its all fun...but you have to remember, you wanna play, you gotta pay. By the way bro, if the info on 200-4Rs was out there on this board, Id be using the search feature, but its not thats why I ask these questions. Its all good, no hard feelings. I just thought that you came off a bit rude, but I understand you point about using it. It just ticks me off that people actually take the time to read my stuff and then reply with, use the search feature. Damn does that **** me off! If you cant help or pitch in your knowledge, then dont reply. If I come across a thread that I know the answer to or have some useful info on, I reply. I never give them that suggestion about using the search feature. When I see my thread has a reply on it and its use the search feature, its a bit disappointing. Im by no means a LS1 wizard, but I do what I can here. Anyhow, those are just my thoughts.
Hey ya I got the car put together and put a few miles on it and got to step on it for the first time last night. All I can say is WOW, that converter and the rest of the setup flies!! It's kinda weird, I have brand new tires on it and half the time from a 60-70 roll it breaks loose but the other half the time it sticks and goes. Not sure why it would do it half the time but oh well. The thing is a beast!!!!
