SS4000 users inside please.
Are you running an 8-9 second car?Slow down and read carefully...
"But yes, a 200R4 can be a major baddass setup for some all out trailor queen 8-9 second racing...but at that point you should be shifting manually, IMO."
I find it easier to get the shift points I want by shifting it manually once you get into 9 second land (things go by pretty quick.) Also, it's good for controlling the car when you get into trouble. Loose traction on the launch? Don't let out, short shift it instead. Same goes for getting the front end way up in the air in first gear. Letting out often results in a hard SLAM!!! to the ground which tends to destroy all kinds of stuff. A simple shift to 2nd gear will usually bring the front end back down nice and smooth.
Thanks for the info towards the bottom...totally makes sense now! Gosh...everytime I jump on this board, I learn something new.
By the way, I found the STR on this converter on Yank's site. Thanks for telling me where I could find it. Its a 2.6 for anyone that wants to know.
He is NOT suggesting you shift manually, only if you had 8 or 9 second trailer queen car.
The transmission combined with a shift kit will shift faster than manually shifting it anyway. There is no advantage to manually shifting anyway the 4160-E is electronically controlled.
Direct quote from you..here's what you posted..
"Ive never owned an automatic sports car muchless an aftermarket converter"
Your questions are all over the place, that's why I suggested using the search cause you seem to be a newbie in the automatic transmission world.
peace.
