Default How much do u stall at the line?

I just put in a Vigilante multic disc 3600 running 26 inch MT drag radials, built 4l60e, 373 gears and want to know how much you guys running this type of converter stall to at the line before launch? I took it to the track last week and stalled it to 2500 before taking off and that got me a 1.6 60ft time. I then stalled it to like 2100 and it also got me a 1.6 60ft time. What are you guys stalling this converter to for best results? My car didn't spin, it hooked good and it has a Spohn adj. rear suspension.

Flash as high as you can and see if you break the tires loose on launch, don't worry about r/t the first few times. I had a 3200, it flashed right at 3000 and was spot on.

Screw with it a little. I found the best launch point for my 3600 yank was 1500. It wouldn't sixty quite as well if I tried higher or off idle. IMO it's not always best to leave as high as you can. It seems that if I take a little slack out of the driveline and let it flash it works better for me, but each is different. Trial and error is going to be your best be.

All converters/setups react different. Nobody can tell you what is best for your application.

I have been told it is best to flash Yanks and stall others (never able to prove either to my self, when I flash only idle up enough to take up slack in drive line, if stalling - stalling as high as possible with out pushing threw the lights) I run 1.62 -1.64 spinning either way running Yank ST3600/2.3 STR/3.73/MT ET Drag Radials. now have Yank 4000/2.5 STR will try it as soon as I complete installing 9"/4.11/locker/MT 295 ET drag radials
If wrong someone correct me, Johnny

I used to have a Fuddle 3600 and had gotten best results stalling it around 2000. I'm gonna hit the track next time and try what you guys have suggested. I was just dissapppointed cuz I got the same 60 ft as before even though I have a better converter and suspension this time.

Question

I'm considering stalling my stock 4L60E with only a B&M shift kit to help it out. Is this safe, or am I just setting myself up for disaster by blowing the trans apart?? You experienced folks throw me a hint or two.

Flash you leave the rpms low and hammer it when you are ready.

Stalling you hold the engine at certain rpms. A lot of people stall it just until the converter starts to jerk the car.

Flashing=flooring it all at once (theoretically should jump higher in the RPM band)
Stalling=taking some slack out of drive train or stalling it up to a certain rpm and then flooring it when the light turns green.

There is no telling man. I have a buddy that has tore 3 transmissions up with a cam only setup. I installed a 4400 converter on my old white TA with ms4 cam 410s full bolts ons prc stg 1 heads etc etc and it was prefect for 16k miles.
It is hit or miss really.

Flashing generally corresponds to the advertised rpm rating of the converter (3600, 4000, etc). Stalling is related to how high one can footbrake the converter off the line without spinning the tires (unless the car is equipped with a trans brake, then the car can actually stall up to the flash rating of the converter).

Also, if going WOT from a roll, the converter will flash up to its advertised rpm rating before delivering power to the wheels.
