4l60e? will it work? i have a carbed 5.3 and i am going to buy a 4l60e auto trans but i see that they come in all sorts of vechicles. Does it matter which one i get it from if i am going to control it by a tci unit or braum tcu? the reason i ask is because i can get a good deal on a 4l60e out of a 1999 s10.
Also, do i have to control it buy a electronic transmission control unit (tcu) or do i have other options? is there a way to manually control the transmission?

Its going into a 1980 malibu. the trans is out of a 1999 s10 with a 4.3 liter. and my 5.3 is out of a 01 or 02 tahoe. i can't remember which year, i will have to check my notes. anyways, i checked out that link you sent. very interesting and i think i will be giving that company a call. thanks for all the info.
