Default 15hr poll help!!!!!

My car is going to get a built tranny tomorrow and I'm going to throw in a torque converter as well. Had my mind on a 3200 or a 3600 tops being that it's my DD. The guy that will be putting in the parts said that a 3400 would be on the safe side and will work great when I install a cam later. Let me know what you guys think. I wish I had time to ride in a stalled car first but I never got around to that since my car's tranny just went out on me and doesn't grab any gears. Thanks!!!!!

Depends on what size cam your thinking about going with. I used to have a Performabuilt 3600 with my cam only setup and it was great for street/strip and not too big. Wish I would have went with a 4000 now that I look back.

^^^ That's what I'm afraid of. I'm not too sure on the cam yet. I might go with the tsp 233/239 but BIG keeps calling my name. I like the vindicator if I decide to go bigger

What gears do you have ? It also depends on what kind of converter you install . It comes down to "you get what you pay for " .A Yank or Circle D are probably your best bet for a D/D . Nice and tight under normal conditions .But when you whack the throttle ,its a big difference .With that cam or larger you shouldnt go any smaller than a 3600rpm (min) .Your best bet is talk to a torque converter expert . I am not one

The 3600 is the way to go, if you don't you will regret it.

I would go with a Yank 4k stall if I were you. Almost everyone that has gone smaller regrets it and goes bigger later down the road. 4k stalls really are daily driver friendly and keep you in the power band when at WOT. If I stay out of the throttle I get 16 mpg in the city and 26+ on the highway cruising at 65 with 3.23 gears and stock internals if mileage is an issue. Plus if you do a H/C package down the road, the 4k stall will be better suited for it.

But if you just can't see yourself going that big, I guess 3600 is the next best choice!

3.73's and a 3600 with my 231/237 Texas Speed cam worked great. Ran 11.7xs all motor and had GREAT streetability, with a great tune of course.

All depends on what you want to go with in the future.

go with at least a 4000. I had one w/ a stock ls1, ls6 intake, and lid. Woke the car up at the track and I hardly felt it on the street.

Not to try to sound like a smart azz......but your car is getting a new trans tomorrow. What are some of the details on who you plan on getting the trans from and also the converter? This might help some of us help you with your decision. BTW I would not go cheap on a converter especially with a new trans. Vince

Well John from Xtreme here in CA hooked me up with a great deal. I ended up getting one of their level 2 transmissions and he told me that they use quality billet converters (Don't want to name being that I don't think they are sponsors here). I should get the car back next week and can't wait. I went with the 3600
