okay i have had my car off the road since november and i have been in the process of swapping a th400 in place of my 4l60e, i got most of it done except the vss, slipyoke, driveshaft, and havent finished installing a shifter yet but i figured id try to start it today anyway and now im getting nothing. the starter doesnt turn over at all, and im not sure if its because of some of the codes for the a4 trans not being there that prevent the car from starting or what...any ideas?

You said the magic words....."havent finished installing a shifter yet"....With that being said, inside your car the neutral safety switch is apart of the shifter assembly.
