E38 and 4L80E
I am getting tried of seeing people blowing there transmissions in the TBSS's and i do not want to kill mine.
I know you can get one built but what about for that guy that wants to make 800hp at all four corners? The level seven 4L70e will not hold that for long...
This summer i want to gather information to make my AWD TBSS have a 4L80e.
There is someone who has tried but can not get the speed sensor to work. I know the 80e has to speed out put sensors and the 70/65e has one.
Some information i need is:
Is the 4L80e longer than the 4L70/65e?
Can the E38 computer control the 4L80e?
Will a T-3 transfercase bolt up to the 4L80e?
What about the speed sensors? I have seen things for the F-bodys but will they work with the E38?
Any input would be helpful for me and others. I would not bother subscribing because i am not sure where this might take me or where it's going to go.

Do you think a T42 with the '07 4l80e program would work with an '06 E40 (GTO) ECM?

I've got the adapter harness & the output shaft/adapter conversion kit for your transfer case to bolt back on the 4L80. You will have to shorten the rear driveshaft & re-tube the frt driveshaft to make it longer. Crossmember will have to be modified. Exhaust may have to be modified depending on how it's routed, mainly on how the left side pipe crosses over to the pass. side of the truck. We have done plenty of 1/2 ton P/U-Suburban-Tahoe/Escalade 4L60-to-4L80 4x4 conversions as new as '09, but I don't think we've ever done a TBSS...yet.
Shouldnt be much different, I'll havta look under one next time we have one here at the shop.
