Default 1994 4l60e problems

I bought the car with a bad tranny and am wondering if it can be fixed or have to be rebuilt.

First gear is slipping and when it grabs it makes a squeaking sound. Kinda like tires barking but not as loud. It shifts into second HARD. Stays in second for a little while and goes to third but I don't think it will go into overdrive but I may not have gotten fast enough on the test drive.

Car has a hotcam 58mm throttle body and heAders along with 373s with NO tune. The damn speedometers off at least 30mph. I'm sure that has a lot to do with it.

So do you think it sounds like a complete tear down or a quick fix.
