so i broke my housing and got a new one and they're different the new lines up with the all the holes the old one only used 4 to mate the trans and engine did i get ripped off or did it come from a truck engine?

You should post pictures, as it is very vague as to what you're saying.

All the bellhousing patterns are the same throughout all SBC history. IIRC, the top right (viewing from rear) bellhousing bolt hole will not be used on an LS
