I'm swapping an 07 6.2 w/6L80e AWD Escalade engine into a 62 Cadillac. Transfer case had been removed, and I want to know if I can run the transmission without doing the 2WD tailshaft conversion. Since my driveshaft has a fixed carrier bearing, I won't need the slip yoke to move, but I am concerned about the lack of support of the output shaft.
Steet and Performance has a kit to do the tailshaft conversion.
Does the 2WD tailshaft provide support to the output shaft or yoke?

Hey I am doing a similar conversion and hope you can add some info. Looks like from the diagrams at gmpartsgiant that the 2wd OP shaft casing has a support bearing for the OP shaft in it if that is what you are meaning? GEtting ready to bring my engine/tranny setup home here next week so will be looking at that pretty closely here pretty quickly.
