Default 4L60E Dies Again

Alright... the latest 4L60E has bitten the dust.
Got this one from HPA... and it took a dump on me last week.
Unfortunately... it was because of an electronic failure and I didnt break it.
The pressure control solenoid failed and caused a buildup of pressure inside the trans and it busted the input drum... so... I need a new one. Other than that my trans guy says he has everything he needs.

So... who can point me where to get a an input drum and a pressure control solenoid????

You can get the input drum through GM, look up the part number for the input drum for the 4L65E, it's in the Silverado 2500 HD 4x4s with the 6.0l gas engine (that's the only one that I know of for sure). The pressure control solenoid will come with a solenoid kit, which you can get at any tranny shop.

There's also a website called www.patc.com, they have the input drums for them they clai they're stronger, but I've haven't heard from anybody who's used them.

You're looking at around $100 for the solenoid kit, and $380 GM retail, $180 GM wholesale for the input drum. GM Parts Direct and Dal Slabaugh can get parts at GM wholesale. However, plan on waiting about a week for it, as they only stock it at the Pontiac Warehouse, and they take their sweet time shipping it.

you should make sure that you dont have an electrical problem as soon as you get the new trans installed..ive had a couple 4l60e's come into my shop with high line pressure problems..could be anything, shorted wire,a bad ignition switch, bad ground, tps, etc...get a shop or someone you know that has a scanner

Hrm... Ive been throwing codes... had em all fixed until this one set and a few minutes later the trans popped. Just fixed some bare wires on the crank sensor and on the drivers side O2 wire. What should I look for with a scanner????

Hey man, where does the drum leak at? If the stock drum from GM broke once why would we be better off replacing it with the same type? I have a Rock Drive gear train, includes stronger drum and it works great.

IT leaks where the hardened input shaft meets the stock drum. When they remove the stock shaft from the stock drum it removes some material then when they put the hardened shaft in it has leaks. Aleast both torque drive kits i got did right out of the box.
Maby your is a different setup and Ive actually met guys that have the torque drive kit with no problems but if they sent me 2 witha problem chances are there are more that will have problems.

Just thought Id let ya know
