Want more mph(more efficient convertor)
Colonel.... do you stilll have your stcok 10 bolt? Also are you still running your stock 4l60e? I'm planning on going to H/C and NO2 later but right now just bolt-ons and NO2 would the SS stall still be a good choice even for NA use until I get the H/C?

This should be a great year, especially with all the help on this board.

(this one is about the SS line in general) http://www.converter.cc/super_stock.htm

The 4L60-E has a TCI shift kit and a tranny cooler. Nothing else.
SS4000 good for NA use? That's what I use it for. 1.55 60 fts with 3.23 gears and 3525 lbs. You can pull 1.5s with just bolt-ons with this converter and 3.23 gears.
Thanks Colonel,Your right . I must not have looked hard enough.
I really like the idea about efficiency being 94% for stock and 94% for the SS4000 with a 2.6 STR. (according to the charts on there site)
I dont think that my Vig3600 has that kind of efficiency.
1ORANGEWS6-I still have the stock 4L60E and the factory stock 10 bolt with 3:23 gears. The best 60 ft i have gotten with this convertor n/a is 1.70,problem is the guy that used to have this vertor in his T/A with stock internals and n/a was getting 1.5's on drag radials. Traction is not the issue i dead hook most everytime, might find something out once i get tuned.
Oh-almost forgot, I do about a 5 sec burn out. The relocation brackets really helped a ton with traction(even being lowered). Hope thats what you wanted to know.

I hate to ask this question-but i'm going to
.
Any idea what kind of improvement i could expect with the SS4000 over the Vig3600 i have now. MPH? and E/T? All motor i run 8.1 in the 1/8 at 86 ,and on spray it goes 7.2 at 93 .
1.7's n/a and 1.5's on bottle.

You need to find out at what RPM that SS4000 94% efficiency was measured at. If it was measured at 6500rpm then it does not do you much good.
Be sure of this... No true 4000rpm stall converter is 94% efficient below 4500rpm (or more) unless it is locked.

So your stall flashes to 5000 RPMs on NO2 how many launches have you made? I've done some smokey burn outs on my ETs and I still spin the hell ou tof them. I have cut better et and 60's on my 555's(not R's) with a nice little burn out. What size ETs do you have? My ET 26x11.5x15s measure 27 inches not 26 inches. I think that may be hurting my gear.
FYI... I called Vickie at PI and talked to her about my Vig 3600. I told her about it stalling higher than 3600 RPMs. I told her that in between shifts the RPMs will not drop below 4300 RPMs and flashes over 4000 RPMs at launch. She said that I must have some bent fins that might cause it to stall higher. I told her that I wanted to run NA and on nitrous. She said that all their stalls were built for nitrous use as well as NA. I told her that I did'nt like how loose the stall was on the street and she said that they could lower the stall or I could get a multi disk unit. To restall $225 and to upgrade to the multi disk(trade in the 3600) $375. I don't think that would be all that bad for the multi disk.

6000 RPM if I remember correctly. Many converters are measured far higher for obvious reasons.
The converter seems very efficient to me. I'm blown away by the MPH this car made considering what it is (3525 lbs with heavy wheels and stock gearing.)

I ran the car at the track just the way i drive it to work -with stock tires(Goodyear F1's) and pump gas ,with the 100(RWHP) jets in it. and got a best of 11.98@115 with a 1.72 60ft. Not too bad huh!
The track was prepped very well(obviously),but still not bad for street trim and a 100 shot.
Switching to the E/T's i ran 11.62@115 with a 1.56 60ft on 100 shot .
This convertor is way too loose for any shot over 100(IMHO).
