I can say that on my Nissan I went from stock flywheel to lightened and back to stock. On the strip I like heavy FW because with manual tranny and 110ci engine revs drop less when you dump the clutch, but with auto revs don't drop, or is it? And on the street was much more alive with lighter flywheel; heavy flywheel definetely holds the car back.
Look at it this way - you ultimate task is to spin the crank faster, not to spin the turbo faster. yes, with heavy flexplate turbo MIGHT spool a bit earlier but CRANK will get up to revs noticeably slower.
P.S. When you want to step on it from the roll, you don't put it into OD or 6th because it will load turbo better, right? you will drop it into 2nd or 3rd

Ive never dealt with reliability above 1k so I dunno. You might call a few of the builders/racers and ask around, I dont recall ever hearing of any FP failures at high HP with the 4l80 though.
