Default RMVB / Transbrake / TH400: All gears go forward.... :(

My transmission will not go into reverse anymore. Before i had to hold the transbrake to go into reverse but felt really loose... Had to rev like 3-3.5k to move.

Well now it feels like i have a constant load on the trans w/ no reverse. Even in park i have a constant load if i get on it.

The trans still shifts perfectly smooth and stays around 160* temp. Every gear im in ( 1,2,3,N,R..) they all go forward.

Any advise?

First thing is to check linkage if that is good it sounds like the foward clutches are fused together or a cross leak.Reverse sounds like its slipping drop the pan look for debris in the pan if so unit needs to come out.

Yea i know the linkage is fine. The trans shifts with no issues at all, so maybe i will still give it a whirl and just not have reverse for awhile.

If it is moving forward in neutral, reverse, and loading up against the converter in park, the forward clutches are cooked and welded to the steels.

If you just don't have reverse or brake, you can try lengthening the servo pin on the rear band.

Damn....

Just hopefully it doesn't effect how the trans runs while going to the track. It makes the converter feel "looser" then normal with it like this.

Forward clutches are welded. I had a Chrysler tranny do this.
