replace 2000 camaro flexplate w/ the new stall ?
okay so i was told by yank i have to replace the 2000 camaro flexplate with the new stall and that they carry them for 59 bucks....the only thing is i only want the lightest/best parts to go on my car if im going to be replacing them so is ATI the lightest best flexplate (even at the steep price of 300 dollars which is insane) and what is the difference between that and the 59 dollar cheapo ? thanks

The cheapest SFI units on the market are made by CAT Power. They are rebadged and sold under different names but you can identify them easily by their trademark gold color and peanut/heart shaped cut-outs. They run between $60-$80. They are strong and balanced and have an SFI rating. However, they are steel and they are heavy. The high dollar flexplates are likely aluminum, which makes them very light. The material cost is more and the production cost is more. Name brands cost more. So that's the reason for the price difference. If money was no object, then I would choose the aluminum piece hands down. They are beautiful works of art. However, I chose the CAT Power bc I was on a budget when I installed my Yank converter.

I think all the aluminum flexplates you will find are probably very very close in weight. The big difference is dumping the stock converter that's around 50 pounds and going to a 9.5 inch that's in the 30s. That's a huge difference. Couple that with an underdrive puley and your motor will rap up and down very quickly when you blip the throttle. Those changes really make a difference in making the engine sound mean.
