Default 2wd 4L60e tailshaft housing needed

Can a 4l60e from a 4wd truck be used as a 2wd tranny? What mods must be done? Different tailshaft? Any help appreciated. This was a match for the lq9 i bought and will be going into a 88 camaro. I have the old 700r4 could the tailshaft from that be used?

As far as I can tell you're keeping the donor engine and transmission together?
If thats it then you need to swap out the tailshaft which requires almost total trans teardown. You need a 4L60E tailshaft and an f body specific tail housing with six bolts, that 700 tail won't work.

Even though it's a truck trans it's probably pretty close as far as calibration (valvebody/servo/accumulation)to what was in the '88 originally.

So if i buy a 4l60e tailshaft housing could i use the 700r4 tailshaft or would it have to be a 4l60e tailshaft?
Also if anyone has a 4l60e tailshaft housing and tailshaft i would definitely be interested.

I'm pretty sure the output shaft will fit, but IIRC the 4L60E shaft has lube hole differences.

I have an output shaft with the reluctor wheel and a six bolt tail housing with a speed sensor.
Not sure if I want to sell them but PM me an offer and your zip code if you want.

And the holes are off set in the 4l60e, adding strength. Ive had quite a few split the shaft right where they drill the holes in line.
The 700 also has teeth cut for the governor. I'm confused, are you building a 700r4 or a 4l60e?
