TCI 4l60e converter ?
Hey guys i have a TCI street fighter converter and i have heard otheres say bad things about them but i have had good luck so far.
I am starting to hear noises from my truck but cant tell if its lower end of the motor or flywheel/converter. I just wanted to see if yall have had any experiences with this converter going out or what!
Any information will help ease my worries, Thanks Ray

I think with these it's a hit or miss. My buddy has had one and has put about 20K miles on it without a problem. Another buddy has one, but I'm not sure how many miles it has, but it still works perfect. Mine only has about 350 miles on it, but works great. There are others who have the lock up clutch go. I'm pretty sure that's the weakest link in that converter.

When my lockup clutch went, the first sign was a groaning
noise on freeway off-ramps and slip up hills. Light load has
zero commanded line% on F-bodies. Not sure about trucks.
But that clutch sure isn't anything to go towing with.

I dont tow with it at all, i race it and cruise it on the weekends when its healthy. i had broke rearend and drive shaft awhile back and eversince i put it back to gether its been making this noise. It does not have to be driving or in gear in park its real noticable around 2-3000rpm, and when i go up a hill it is real noticable as well...

i ran the super street fighter in my camaro for 4 years worked good. but broke it last year. sound like ur having the same prob i did. it made hissing grinding noise and slipped under load/boost. i sent it back for a re build, and destroyed the front cover and burnt up the clutches. if ur on a budget and like the converter its 225 for a rebuild.

We run a TCI converter in our top sportsman truck, 2300hp and is fine so I think Tci is ok lol you can check out our winning year we were the world champions in 2009 Just Google Mike Koontz world champion picks of truck. I think you get good and bad parts with anything.
