Default ok to mix atf brands?

hello,

i have the 4l60e in my truck. im wondering is it ok to mix different brands of atf?

i just wanna do a plug drain change(i like to every 4-5k). my truck only has 4k miles on it so i dont need to do a filter or full flush, but i wanna change some fluid since its so easy.

is it ok to run half stock stuff and then put in my own other half(castrol, penz, etc)?? obviously i would put in exactly the stuff the book recommmends so its the same substance as the stock....

thanks for any help

Conservatively:It shouldn't hurt anything if you use a DEX III rated fluid.
