First off, does the pilot bearing stay in or does it come out?
2. Does the starter need to be dropped?
3. Do I bolt the converter up to the flexplate first or with the tranny?
4. Does anyone make a floorboard kit or pre-fabbed mounting plate to cover up the hole and so that the stock 4L60E shifter can be fastened down? How precise does it have to be because the base of the shifter towards the rear of the car looks like it bolts up? Does it slip under that bracket, over the bracket, or does that piece have to be cut? Its the same bracket that holds the airbag sensor.
I know theres more questions that I have, but I forgot them. When I think of them, I will post them. Thanks

Hey Man glad to see that your install is underway. I can't answer the questions myself since I will be doing my first Auto also.
How long did it take you to get the tranny from Mike after he started on it? He started on mine Friday. I went and picked up a B&M Hammer Shifter, a case of royal purple ATF and B&M's racing Super Cooler tranny cooler today.
Did you ever find out how long the driveshaft needs to be and did you order the Denny's like we talked about earlier? I quess that since I am asking so much what TQ did you end up going with?
The only problem I am having is that the only dipstick tube that I can find is the 24" from Lokar and I don't believe that will be long enough. Sorry for all the questions but you are the only one doing the same install as me for now with the 200.
I would love to hear from you as you get things going and keep me posted because I won't be too far behind you. E-mail me with anything interesting that you learn from the install.....Good Luck.

I dropped my tranny off late Monday, but I dont think he got started on it until late Tuesday. I told him not to rush it because I wasnt going to be able to pick it up till next week. (Today/Monday) He called me up anyway to let me know that it was done on Friday.
I dont know exactly how long the driveshaft is going to be and I really dont recommend you using my measurements because every car is going to be slightly different. Mike suggested that I just wait until I got it all in there and then take my measurements.
I went with a Yank SS4000.
I got my dipstick kit through Summit, but it was a Lokar product. I dont believe the part is listed on their site, but if you enter the part number, it should come up. Its around $70 or so. Its a 200-4R kit, 36" in length, and has a firewall mount. Hope that helps. I will keep you updated. Thanks.

I will check with Summit because the 36" Lokar is not listed even though I know they supposedly make one. I will definitely try harder do you have the part number on the one that you have? That would make it alot easier.

Alright! We got 2 and 3 knocked out. 1 I want to know to just to be sure because I left it in, but #4 Im really concerned about. It would save me a lot of trouble and hassle if someone fabricated a plate that covers up the hole in the floorboard and is the correct angle and height for the shifter. I know that I could probably fab something up, but it would be much easier to just have something prefabbed. Thanks.

TA2SLOW346: Thanks for the tip. I was wondering about that because I didnt want to drill through the cowl and then it would be a place that water leaks through.
Did you convert from an A4 or 6 speed? If from a 6 speed, how did you mount the shifter and cover the hole? Did you use the stock shifter? Thanks

I need some pics of the console area with everything removed. That way I can get an idea what Im working with and how I need to mount the shifter. Do you know if anyone makes a plate that covers the hole and has mounting for the shifter? I know that Yank makes a conversion kit, but I didnt know if it came with any of that. Ive got the tranny, pressure plate, disk, flywheel, shifter, and driveshaft all out. Ive got the flexplate in, Im just having a hard time figuring out how Im going to mount the shifter. I dont want it to be off or sit to close to the dash. I want it to look right as if it was suppose to be there. If no one makes a kit, then I already know that Im going to have to fab something up, so those that have, could you drop me some tips. Thanks.

You can look at this one and I found another also I will get it too

I know the second is talking about a 400 but he talks about how he made the plate. I really don't think anyone makes a plate for it just get a flat piece like in the second one and do it yourself it shouldn't take that long.
Thanks for the part number BTW.

Hey good stuff is yours the 36" also or do you have the 24" tube?
EDIT: I just got off the phone with Sumitt the part number is lok-td3200rfm36
The original part number you gave me is a 24" tube. They said that it is not a stock item and it will have to be ordered directly from Lokar and it will be here in two weeks
Oh well the simplest thing will be holding me up. Last edited by Chad00ws6; Jan 27, 2004 at 04:18 PM.
Any update man? Some parts for mine were back ordered so I am still waiting. Hopefully we will put it back together this coming weekend. I fabbed a pretty sweet plate to cover the hole in the tunnel at a local machine shop where I work part time. I will take lots of pictures.

I think that Summit was telling me the same thing, but I had it within a week or less. If you order directly from Lokar, its going to be more. Best bet is to buy from Summit.
I did buy it from Summit which he said would have to be shipped to them first and from them to me but it was like $74.16 with shipping and all. I haven't got a single part yet. Tranny, TC or anything that I ordered but I'm getting everything ready so all I will have to do is install it. I love my shifter.

TA2SLOW346: Ive had the 36" Lokar distick installed for a few days now, but I was looking at it the other day and was wondering how the trans fluid is going to flow down there? Do you have any problems filling it? Its pretty much level after it comes up over the back of the block. Thanks.
