Car shift aggressively from 1st to 2nd
Hey guys I have a 98 z28 A4 I am new to the forum well also new to my car. Just bought my car last week one thing my car does is it shifts really aggressively from 1st to 2nd to where i have a small wheel spin even with traction controll on. It does it on the other gears but it is tolerable. But the first shift is so aggressive and it just get worse the more throttle I have. My friend told me that there is a possible shift kit in it. Is there a way I can check this? And is there anyway I can make the shifts smoother? Also my whole car shakes like crazy when I move it out of park into reverse or drive.

Sounds like a B&M shift kit.
You can take the pan off and access the 1-2 accumulator.
Inside a stock one there should be a piston with two springs under it.
With a B&M kit there will be a piston with aluminum spacers limiting it's movement.
With a TransGo shift kit there will be a spring on each side of the piston and maybe 1 to 3 big washers in the bottom of the housing.
It could also have a check ball stuck in the valve body for 2nd.
It could be jacked up line pressure from a bad tune.
Thats a start.
