Default Is this normal?

I just got a stall put in Friday and have been driving around on it this weekend. I have never driven a stalled car before so I just want to make sure what I am experiencing is normal. The car has been tuned once, but the tuner is going back in on Tuesday to make sure everything is good. The two things I am noticing are:

1. Around 40-50 mph the car seems to downshift-upshift repeatedly. It does it maybe 5-10 times but only at that speed and it just doesn't seem to know where it needs to be.

2. The second is a shift lag if I am on the throttle at about 50%, itll rev up to about 3500-4000 and seems to hold there and the car seems to hit a wall and then it shifts. If i go above 50% throttle it is great, very fast and firm shifts.

I just want to see if this is normal or something I should be worried about. The stall is a Circle D 3000-3200 11".

Definitely not normal. Sounds like your shift points need to be changed.

ok, that was one of the things I was thinking. I just talked to the tuner and he is going to get me to drive him around town with his laptop hooked up so he can find exactly where everything needs to be.

Yeah it sounds like it need to be tuned for the new converter. It sounds like shift mph and lock tables need to be tweeked. A lot of guys tune their cars so it doesn't even lock up in 3rd gear (drive), just in 4th (OD) only.

ok, I wil tell him that is what I want when he looks at it on tues. On the way home I noticed that it doesn't do it once it is locked. It's only in 3rd gear. So I guess it is shifting between 2nd and 3rd.

It acutally sounds like the converter is locking and unlocking. That needs to be fine tuned.

Ok your description isn't that great but the normal problem is that you can feel lock up now because of the clutch material and it's more noticable with the stall speed difference.

With normal programming the trans shifts to 3rd, tcc locks up, before the shift to 4th it unlocks, shifts to 4th, locks back up.

The easy fix is to disable 3rd gear tcc apply.

that sounds like it would be the best way to fix it. I will talk to the tiner and tell him to disable it. Hopefully that'll take care if it. Thanks for the help everyone.

Yeah, what they said - lol

Sounds like lock up, so a tune should take care of it. Let me know if you need anything else.

well, I think I figured out the problem. My 3-4 clutch pack went out on the way to school today. Hopefully getting the trany rebuilt will get everything fixed.

That would do it.4l60e's tend to burn up the 3-4 clutchs (from heat or low fluid level) Did you put a external cooler on with the converter? Stall generate alot of heat.#1 cause of tranny damage
