The trans in my Nova is doing something that is new to me. The car quit the other day so I hauled it home. It was running fine, just quit firing. I found a loose hot wire and solved the problem. I unloaded it to drive it again and when I go to drive the trans goes to 2nd. I can manually shift to 1st and the car STOPS....feels alot like activating a transbrake, which it does not have. Any ideas?
It is a 72 Nova with the LS1/4L60e out of a 2k Camaro

 

Sounds like you have a transgo shift kit installed and are still in limp mode, (no power to the trans) this will cause te car to have manual 2nd and thrid only and lock down in manual 1. sounds like you still have and electtical issue.

yes as frank said with a HD2 kit you will have a weak transbrake with a limp mode failure. limp mode forces the trans to third gear and the valve in the HD2 kit forces manual low cant be in 2 gears at the same time
