Default gen2 trans to a gen3 engine

Hey guys, I have a 4L60e from a 98 v6 s10 I plan on bolting to a 2000 5.3 engine.

I keep hearing about flat vs dished flexplates, but I havent read anything about what that affects.

from what I have read, it appears that I should purchase this
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/HUP-HP3795/

and press it into the crank behind the stock 5.3 flexplate.
then elongate the holes to bolt up to the torque convertor.

I have also heard of people purchasing both this
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/NAL-12563532/
and
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/ARP-330-2802/
and bolting them behind the flexplate.

which I assume achieves the same result. as the first part i mentioned.

is there actually a difference in these methods?
are they both correct?

photos below of my flexplate... is it flat or dished, and what does that matter?

you can see it's not completely flat, but its not super dished.

Take your torque converter and put it up to the engine.
If the tc pilot on the front of the converter goes into the crank 1/8 or more and the bolt pads touch then you need nothing.

I don't think a 2000 5.3 needs any adapters. At least if it had a 4L80E on it.

hmm.
problem is, I will have a window of about 4 days to get the v6 out, and then drop the 5.3 in, since I will be doing the motor swap at borrowed shop floor space. until then, I am unable to pull the convertor out.

So either way, IF i need a spacer, would the originally posted spacer be correct?

If noone knows for certain I might just purchase the spacer and if I use it, awesome. if not, I can return it or sell it later
