Just picked one up used. Its for stock 4l60e but adds 2 extra qts. Can I just throw the pan on without anyother mods? Like filter or filter extension?

yes you can. the only difference is that the pan will hold two more quarts than the stock one.

 

no filter extension is required,the pan has 'bumps' to hold the filter at its' proper position.

 

Ok sounds good. I have read that soome guys grind down the inside of the fins so they can use a truck filter to go all the way down incase of any starvation.

Another question...hows the bottom clearance with this pan? Im at stock height but what if I wanna lower the car in the future?

look at the distance from the bottom of the pan to the bottom of the tires.
I'm not lowered,it's a travelling car.
gotta go very very slowly over speedbumps and certain driveways.It did touch once(but no damage) at the overflow parking lot at Busch Gardens Tampa

I was told that you have to use the truck filter with a deeper pan..

 

you cant use a truck filter with the tci deep pan unless you grind off the bumps on the bottom. a stock filter will work fine. as far as clearance, havent had any problems yet, even over speedbumps

 

Wow I forgot I made this thread. I have the pan its sitting in the basement. I see it has the 3 bumps in the bottom. I think ima put it in when stall goes in

 

Not with the TCI pan.
It's best not to reply at all, rather than reply with general comments that may not be fact.

A lot of people use the truck pan, ..., which would lead to the truck filter.
But the OP does not have the truck pan.

Have you ever had clearance issues? Can you confirm the trans temps are lower from using this pan?

Iv heard of people having clearance issues but Idk if they are stock height.

 

When I had this pan, I ground down the prongs so I
could run the truck filter.

The lowest point is the drain plug, I collected a lot
of yellow paint on that before I went to the truck
pan.

I use the truck filter, and mine ( TCI ) has a few marks on it from the occasional scrape. The car is stock(ish) height.

No damage though.

 

I am -1" lowered.

Yea, but you didn't tell the whole truth. You reply was general to have any meaning in reference to this thread topic on the TCI pan shown.
So someone can come along & read your note, buy the truck filter, & the TCI pan with the posts & then end up having to grind off the posts to make it fit. Or take the filter back & get the stock filter.

The same pan as posted/shown?
Did it have the posts in it, to allow the standard stock filter?
Or is it possibly a different TCI pan?

The reason people use the 'truck filter' is obviously because of its longer tube that gets it deeper into the pan, ..., like the deep truck pan
